Welcome to the Panther Family! We're excited you've chosen FIU dual enrollment. 

FIU offers several dual enrollment programs that allow students to take college courses while still earning their high school diploma. Classes are available on the FIU campuses, in participating high schools and online. Specialized programs for high-achieving 11th and 12th graders are available as well.

How to Apply

At High School Program

  • Public/Private/Charter School

    Start Your Application 

    "New" and "Returning" students must complete online application. If you have not been enrolled in an FIU course during the last 3 semesters you must re-apply.

    New Students:

    • "At High School" Application 
    • Create a username and password to complete application by selecting "Click here to register now"
    • Sign-on to create and submit your application
    • You will be given a Panther ID number on the confirmation page.  If you did not receive a Panther ID number allow the system 24 hours to process your application and follow-up with the dual enrollment office.

     Returning Students: 

    • Login to MyFIU using your Panther ID and password
    • Select "Manage Class"
    • Select "High School Dual Enrollment"
    • Submit your application

    You are done!  Print and submit Parent Consent Form to your high school instructor and review the Dual Enrollment Transfer Guarantees.

Early Admission Program - Full Time

    1. Start Your Application

    2. Request an Interview

    To be considered for an interview, email required documents to dualenro@fiu.edu.  Email Subject line must read: Early Admission Applicant (Student Name) Students that meet eligibility requirement will be invited to interview and additional instructions will be provided.

    Required Documents

    • Official High School Academic transcript (Minimum unweighted high school GPA 3.5)
    • SAT or ACT Test scores (Minimum SAT score of 1200; ACT composite score of 25)
    • Recommendation Letter from School Guidance Counselor or Principal
    • Home Education student must also provide proof of enrollment in the Florida Home Education Program  

FIU Program - Part Time

    • Complete Steps 2 & 3   
    Note: In addition to completing steps 2 and 3, if you are a returning student and have not been enrolled in an FIU course during the last 3 semesters you must re-apply.   

     

    Step 2. Complete Required Forms

    Dual Enrollment Authorization Form - Must be completed each semester 

    • Students must meet minimum 3.0 unweighted high school GPA and minimum scores on common placement test*

    Immunization Forms must be completed if this is the first time student participates in the FIU DE program 

    *To request a PERT test, or course level assessment exam, view instructions below under "Things You Should Know-Testing".  All dual enrollment students requesting to enroll in courses above MAC 1105 with no college credit in math must take the ALEKS placement test.  (FIU has 30-day waiting period to retake PERT test)



    Step 3. Submit Forms

    • If NOT vaccinated in the state of Florida, or you chose not to complete the electronic health form, email Immunization Documentation Forms to immune@fiu.edu.  FIU requires all students comply with the immunization policy regulations from the Florida Board of Governors.

  • Access MyFIU Student Portal

    MyFIU is your online student portal where you can manage your personal information and class schedule at FIU.  To log in, visit my.fiu.edu.

    NEW STUDENTS

    If this is your FIRST TIME LOGGING into MyFIU portal you must follow the instructions below:

    • Visit MyFIUportal at https://my.fiu.edu 
    • Select “Login to MyFIU”  
      • Username: FIU provides an identification number, known as the Panther ID, to each student. Once you apply to the Dual Enrollment Program you will be automatically assigned a Panther ID. Your Panther ID is a unique 7-digit FIU Panther ID number (Example: 1234567
      • Password:Your default password for when you first log in is your date of birth in the following format: 
        • DDMonYYYY (i.e., 01Jan2001). You will be asked to reset/change your password when you first log on to any FIU service/application.

    For security, you will be prompted to create a new password when you log in for the first time.

    RETURNING STUDENTS

    If you have previously logged in to MyFIU portal please follow the instructions below: 

    • Visit MyFIUportal at https://my.fiu.edu 
    • Select “Login to MyFIU”  
    • Username: FIU provides an identification number, known as the Panther ID, to each student. Once you apply to the Dual Enrollment Program you will be automatically assigned a Panther ID. Your Panther ID is a unique 7-digit FIU Panther ID number (Example: 1234567
    • Password:Use password you had previously created.
      • If you have difficulty accessing MyFIU portal, please contact FIU Tech Support at 305-348-2284 to reset your login information. Select the "Password Reset" prompt to speak to a representative.

  • Register for Classes for On-FIU Campus Program

    Registration can only be completed after required documents have been submitted by DE Coordinator/Counselor or Home School Parent/Guardian to FIU. Students may only register for courses listed and approved on the Dual Enrollment Authorization Form.

    Note: For online courses, students will need to access PantherMail and Canvas for Course Syllabus.  Access will be available on the first day of class.

  • Order Instructional Materials

    Starting Fall 2021, all dual enrollment students taking courses online or at an FIU campus will be automatically enrolled in the Panther Book Pack.  The Panther Book Pack is a course materials rental program.  

    How it Works "3 Easy Steps"

    3. Receive Your Textbooks or Access Code

     

    At the time you enroll in undergraduate courses, you will automatically be enrolled in the Panther Book Pack. On-Campus and Online Dual Enrollment students may not opt out. 

    Visit MyFIU and click on the Panther Book Pack tile, select a term and a session to see all enrolled courses and their qualification status for the Panther Book Pack program. 

    You will receive an email that summarizes your course materials. You can choose pick-up materials on campus, shipping to an off-campus address*, or receive direct digital access. An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.  Your digital materials will be accessible in your course(s) within Canvas.  

    Textbooks must be returned to the Barnes & Noble FIU Bookstore in reusable condition at the end of the semester. 

    Dual enrollment students taking courses on their high school campus will not be enrolled in the Panther Book Pack.

    *Students that choose shipping to an off-campus address are responsible for shipping charge. 


    What are instructional materials?

    Instructional materials are defined as textbooks, including electronic access codes, as needed, and do not include materials that become the personal property of students. Items excluded from the Panther Book Pack include school supplies, kits, uniforms, art supplies, calculators, and non-required course materials.  Your personalized verification email from Barnes & Noble will outline any exclusions from the Panther Book Pack.

  • Correspondence (Email, Canvas, etc.)

    PantherMail

    FIU does most of its business electronically, dual enrollment students at FIU have access to their own personal FIU email account, PantherMail which is powered by Google and provides FIU students with many useful Google applications.  You are responsible for keeping your email address up-to-date and active.

    We offer Two-Factor Authentication for your PantherMail. 2FA helps protect your account by requiring an additional layer of security. By using Two-Factor (2FA), you minimize the risk of compromising your credentials through phishing, social engineering, and/or password attacks.

    To log in to your PantherMail, go to panthermail.fiu.edu and type in your FIU email and password, which is the same as your MyFIU username & password (i.e. roary001@fiu.edu).

     


    FIU Canvas

    Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by Florida International University to provide instructional support and deliver courses online. Canvas features or tools will vary by instructor and course. Access will be available on the first day of class for the semester you are registered for.


    How do I log in to Canvas?

    To log in to Canvas, go to canvas.fiu.edu and type username and password.  Your username on the login screen is your FIU Username (Example: jdoe001) or your Panther ID.

    Note: If you add/drop a course in MyFIU, it can take up to 24 hours for the change to be updated in Canvas and for you to have access to the lecture videos. After 24 hours, if you’re still having an issue with a course you changed during the university’s add/drop period please contact us.

    FIU students can access Canvas technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year via phone, ticket, or online chat. FIU Canvas Help is also available Monday - Friday, 8am - 10pm, for on-campus support!

Things You Should Know

  • Testing

    What common placement tests or course level assessment exams are available for dual enrollment students?

    PERT and ALEKS exams are available through the FIU Center for Testing and Career Certification. 

    Who is eligible to schedule testing?

    Students that are not able to test at their school, but wish to participate in Part-Time On-Campus Dual Enrollment and At-High School programs are eligible to schedule testing.  

    What are steps for testing with FIU Center for Testing and Career Certification?

    Students participating in On Campus program can request approval for testing, student must email the Testing Request Form to dualenro@fiu.edu (Email subject line must read:  Testing Request Form (Indicate On-Campus Program).  Please indicate term.

    DE Coordinator can request approval for testing a group of students by emailing the Testing Request Form-Group to dualenro@fiu.edu.  (Email subject line must read:  Testing Request Form (Indicate On-Campus Program or At High School Program) Please indicate term.

    The FIU Center for Testing and Career Certification will contact students, via the email provided, with instructions for scheduling exams and any applicable fees associated with testing. See Dates and Deadlines above for requesting testing.  Test results must be available prior to submission of documents. Students will be able to retake the PERT 30 days from previously taken date.

    Course Level Assessment Exam – ALEKS

    To schedule ALEKS, visit Center for Testing and Career Certification | Florida International University (fiu.edu), and follow steps to schedule exam.  There may be applicable fees associated with testing.

  • How to recover Accounts: Canvas/FIU Email/Panther ID, Etc.

    What is Canvas?  Canvas is a Learning Management System offered by FIU to support online and web-assisted instruction.  As a student, you will be provided access to your course materials and the necessary tools to collaborate and communicate with your classmates, and instructors.  Join FIU Canvas and Zoom student training sessions to answer your questions. 

    FIU Email  You will have access to a personal FIU email account powered by Google. To view your email address, log in to myFIU, select the Profile tile, then Contact Details. Visit Panther Mail to access your email.

  • Fees & Other Educational Expenses
    Mandatory Fees 
    • FIU One Card - The $10.00 annual, non-refundable, ID service fee is assessed to all students. This fee covers the cost of maintaining all the services provided by the FIU One Card Office.  Visit One Card for additional information. 
    • Parking - Students parking on campus are responsible for their own transportation and any fees incurred.  Additional information can be found at Parking & Transportation
  • Transcripts

    Students can order an official transcript or view unofficial transcript on MyFIU.  In addition, FIU has contracted with Parchment to provide transcript ordering, printing, and delivery services.
