Begin in High School - Finish at FIU

Start by meeting with your school counselor, or parent/legal guardian if you are a home school student, and discuss dual enrollment opportunities.

Program Types

Earn college credits at your high school

Dual enrollment courses can be taken at Partner Schools during the high school academic year. Students earn, at the same time, college credits and credits that fulfill requirements for high school graduation.

Courses are taught by either a high school instructor appointed as an FIU Courtesy Lecturer, or an FIU faculty or adjunct instructor.

Take college courses on FIU Campus

On FIU Campus dual enrollment (Part Time) students take courses alongside FIU students. They can get involved, make new friends, explore interests, and make a difference. Students in the part-time program should not enroll in more than 2 courses.

Dual enrollment opportunities are available at:

Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC) spans 342 acres and is home to many of FIU's most recognized schools and colleges
Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC) a waterfront campus home to schools of Journalism & Communication and Hospitality Management
Engineering Center (EC), only a two-mile shuttle ride from MMC, a facility dedicated to innovation in the field of engineering, and home to the nationally recognized Wall of Wind
FIU at I-75 offers opportunities for students closer to Broward County

Dual enrollment opportunities Online:

Using FIU Canvas, a learning management system that lets you log into your online classroom, students can interact with faculty and other students and take part in a dynamic and interactive fully online course.
Courses are designed to provide students with the same top-quality experience that on-campus students enjoy. Students read chapters, submit assignments, participate in group projects, engage in discussions, reply to message boards, and much more.

High school senior year at FIU

Full-Time/Dual Enrollment Early Admission allows seniors to complete their final year of high school at FIU. Students enroll in 12-15 college credit hours per semester. This program is not the same as freshmen admission to the university, but you can experience first-hand what life at FIU is like. Explore the campus, discover arts and culture, enjoy a variety of restaurants, get all you need on campus stores, and enjoy available resources.

If you have what it takes, request to be considered for an interview during your junior year. Submit interview request email to dualenro@fiu.edu Interviews begin in April of each year.
