On-FIU Campus Dual Enrollment

Eligibility Requirements

  • A  3.0 unweighted high school  grade point average or higher.
  • New dual enrollment applicants and students that have been out for three (3) consecutive semesters need a college readiness score on a common placement test adopted by the State Board of Education which indicates the student is ready for college-level coursework.

  • Math Courses: Students wanting to enroll for a  math course higher than College Algebra  must also take the ALEKS placement exam.  To schedule the ALEKS exam please go to ALEKS Scheduling navigate to the "Register For An Exam" tab, and follow scheduling instructions (a panther ID is required).

How to choose courses

  • Meet with your high school counselor to choose the courses you would like to register for.
    • Do a class search prior to choosing your course(s).  To do a class search please click here CLASS_SEARCH
Since registration for the courses is on a space-available basis, we recommend alternate courses in the event your first two choices fill up.

Additional Documents Required for Home Education Students

An eligible home education student must submit the following documents, in addition to the documents mentioned above.

  • Letter verifying enrollment with Miami-Dade County or Broward County  Homeschool Program (the letter must be submitted prior to registering for courses).
  • The  Home Education Dual Enrollment Articulation Agreement (this agreement is found in the Forms Tab).

Continued Dual Enrollment Eligibility

Student eligibility requirements for continued enrollment in college credit dual enrollment courses:

  • A 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average or higher.
  • Maintain the minimum post-secondary grade point average established by the post- secondary institution.
Regardless of meeting student eligibility requirements for continued enrollment, a student may lose the opportunity to participate in a dual enrollment course if the student is disruptive to the learning process such that the progress of other students or the efficient administration of the course is hindered.

  • Scroll down to the How to Add/Drop Classes.
  • Follow the registration instructions found in this section.
  • Please follow the On-FIU Campus Dual Enrollment registration deadlines provided to you at time of dual enrollment document submission.
Withdraw from Class Procedures

On-FIU Campus dual enrollment students are responsible for officially withdrawing from classes that they are no longer attending in accordance with FIU requirements. Students who do not officially withdraw from a class may receive a failing grade.  You must advise your high school counselor when dropping a class from FIU.

Instructional Materials (Books)

Public School Students:The student must obtain a book voucher from their high school guidance counselor. The instructional materials (books) must be returned to each students corresponding high school at the end of the FIU semester.

Home Education Students: Please contact the Dual Enrollment office at 305-348-2800 (Modesto Maidique Campus) or 305-919-5754 (Biscayne Bay Campus) for information.

Private/Charter School Students: Contact your school.

On-FIU Campus Early Admission
Dual Enrollment
Fall 2019-Spring 2020

Early admission is a form of dual enrollment through which eligible secondary students enroll in a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis in courses that are creditable toward the high school diploma and the associate or baccalaureate degree.

A student must enroll in a minimum of 12 college credit hours per semester or the equivalent to participate in the early admission program; however, a student may not be required to enroll in more than 15 college credit hours per semester or the equivalent.

Early Admission Interviews will take place:  March 5, 2019 - May 10, 2019

  • Students interested in the Early Admissions Program at FIU Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC) must contact Mrs. Kenyasha Knight, Dual Enrollment Advisor via email at to schedule an interview.  Please include a copy of  your SAT or ACT Score, your High School Unofficial Transcript and a Recommendation letter.
  • Students interested in the Early Admissions Program at FIU Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC) must contact Dr. Valerie Morgan, Director of Academic Support Services via email at to schedule an interview.  Please include a copy of  your SAT or ACT Score, your High School Unofficial Transcript and a Recommendation letter.
Note:  Part-Time and Early Admission Dual Enrollment Grades will become part of the student’s permanent high school transcript and Florida International University’s transcript (these are official transcripts and should be included in any college application).
